#WOTD: Midst, milieu, mezzo, medio.
"In the midst of a great storm there lives an eye of peace, calm and hope." - Yolanda

Have you ever heard people say, "I'm in the eye of the storm."  Well in meteorology the eye of the storm is a small area where the weather is calm, the sky is clear, and the winds are just light breezes in the center of a fierce tropical storm.  But the eye can only be seen from top down and not bottow up.

But what actually happens in this area is similiar to what happens in our lives when we are in the midst of one of lifes great storms or struggles.  As the storm strengthens and wind speeds increase, an eye begins to form at the center of the storm.

Surrounding the eye is the eyewall, which is the most violent part of a storm. The eyewall is a ring of dense cumulonimbus clouds – thunderstorm clouds. There, the strongest winds in the storm are found and warm, moist air is pulled into the storm, along with debris from below (like water, grass, houses, cars and trees).

As human beings we are a mirror image of nature.  When we are caught up in one of life's storms (through death, divorce, job loss etc),  we can't see the eye of the storm as we look up...because the eye can only be seen from top down (think God's vantage point).  But life's wall is pulling everything into the storm - relationships, finances, love, etc...into the storm's wall.

Yet, what happens in the eye of the storm  when that peace comes - is excatly what happens in nature - that calm and stillness gives us a chance to recover, to pick up and move quickly to safety.  The eye provides for us just like it does in nature a way out - but we have to move quickly, planfully and confidently while we are in the eye (the eyes of God).

Today, know this to be true; when you are in one of life's storms, wait and listen for the peace, calm and quietness of God (the eye of the storm), then move, quickly, confidently forward towards your dreams, and be prepared for the next great event (or the rest of life's storms) to pass you by.

Have a productive Monday!
