Anointed and Appointed

#WOTD: Anointed and Appointed

Appointed, designato, nombrado, nommé.

"A committee is a group of the unprepared, appointed by the unwilling to do the unnecessary"

If I get called into another committee meeting...I'm going to scream.  Have you ever had days when you felt like that?  It seems like committees have become so fashionably important in our lives that we have to form subcommittees to do the work of the committees committee.

Sometimes we can let our lives become like that.  We can get so focused on having the approval and consent of our family and friends (the committee), to move forward and do the thing we are being called to do or to do the thing we are often most afraid to do.

The committee (our family and friends) can get us bogged down in the drama. I really love watching C-Span to simply watch the drama unfold during some Congressional Hearing.  While well meaning, committee members all need to have their say.

It reminds me of the committee of three who surrounded Job.  Not only were two of them wrong - but the one who was right was much younger and had no worldly experience.

Mahatma Gandhi once said, "Providence has its appointed hour for everything.  We cannot command results, we can only strive."  Just as in Job's situation - It had already been appointed that Job's life would turn around - without the necessity of the committees (his friends) vote on what he should do.

Today, know this to be true; The mistake a lot of our well intentioned committee members make (when they tell you what to do) is in forgetting that they have been appointed by the Creator (to walk by your side) and not anointed (to tell you His will).

Here's to a Happy Friday!
