#WOTD: Living my life like it's....effective

Effective, efficace, eficaz.

"An effective human being is a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts." - Ida P. Rolf

Love that Jil Scott song, Living my life like it's golden.  But in all honesty Jil could have simply used the word effective.  Yet, most people live their lives affective by allowing what happens outside of us determine what other people see.

What's the difference between effective and affective?  Well in psychology an affect is described as your emotional response to a stimuli.  An external expression that is brought about by something outside of yourself.  While effective is somthing that is brought about by something internally that will result in a successful conclusion.

To be effective at what you do means to be good at what you do.  To be affective at what you do means that you require some outside stimulus in order to achieve a desired result.

Today are you living an effective life?  Do you have an effective solution or plan to get you to your desired results?   Football great Franco Harris once said, "It's not a thing of how many carries (of the football), but were you effective when you did carry (the ball)?"

Today, know this to be true.  Living your life like it's golden is living your life like it's effective.  It matters how we get to the end zone.

Have a great Monday
