WOTD: One big transition
Transition, transiciĆ³n, transizione.
"Between birth and death life is one big transition." - Yolanda
If you are a history buff like I am you will well remember, John Calhoun who was a leading politican and political theorist from South Carolina during the first half of the 19th century.
Calhoun eloquently spoke out on every issue of his day, but often changed positions (sounds like a number of our politicans today). He is best known for his intense and original defense of slavery as something positive, for his inventing the theory of minority rights in a democracy, and for pointing the South toward secession from the Union.
What's interesting however, is that none of the theories that Calhoun believed in or stood behind made the transition to today.
He once said, "The interval between the decay of the old and the formation and establishment of the new constitutes a period of transition which must always necessarily be one of uncertainity, confusion, error, and wild and fierce fanaticism."
While I agree that life's transitions from one day to the next, one milestone to the next, and the past from the future can be filled with uncertainty...when you trust life and when you trust the Creator of life and know that all is well and all is as it should be...then life and life's transitions are not about confusion, error, or wild and fierce fanaticisms.
Today, know this to be true, Calhoun's philosophies didn't make the transition into the future undoubtedly because Calhoun himself didn't trust life's transitions. Starting today, trust the shake ups, the break ups and the make up's as all a part of the Creator's great plan to give you the life you've only dreamed about.
Have a turning point Friday!
